Another 5 inches of snow

Yesterday we woke up to another 5 inches of  white fluffy snow.  I snapped a picture but the memory card was not in my camera.  Oops.  It really was beautiful and today the sun was shining which made it spectacular.

Reading Our Very Old Bible

Tom and I enjoyed reading in our old Bible last night.  

Babysitting is Fun!

Tom and I had the opportunity to watch three well behaved kids last night.  We enjoyed storytelling, movies, homemade rolls, root beer floats, cracker jacks, movies and pizza.  We hope to get the chance to do it again!  Tom had fun sharing the trinkets he has collected over the years with the kids.

Body Shop

I babysat the Body Shop yesterday.  It is such a nice gym and the owner is so nice.

Exercise At Any Age

My friends at the Courtyard exercise every week day for 1/2 hour.  Walkers, oxygen and other disabilities don't seem to deter them.  Keep it going.  You encourage me to do the same.

Missionaries of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

Tom  and I had the missionaries over for dinner tonight.  We love the spirit they bring to our home.  We so appreciate Elder Canova and Elder Stafford for the message of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ that they shared with us today.   We are fans of missionary work.

Shoveling Snow in Barefeet

Tom does so much for me.  He shoveled the walk for my visiting teachers this morning just so they could have a clean safe path to our house.  Thanks Tom for all you do.  

North Idaho’s Best Kept Secret, Coeur d’Alene 

On Tuesday Feb 3rd Tom and I enjoyed a terrific Tuesday here in Coeur d’Alene.   We woke up early, to participate in Denny’s nationwide free Grand Slam Breakfast.   We arrived at 7:10 am and were lucky to sit by two of our good friends, Steve and Leann that had braved the cold, icy morning to join in the American event.   The service was excellent, the food was hot and tasty and the customers and staff were both enjoying a fun morning with their fellow folk. 

After the breakfast I ran over to the DMV and at 7:45 am on a Tuesday morning I was the only one there.  No need to grab a ticket.  The employees were friendly and helpful and I enjoyed a congenial conversation with Lorie, a seasoned DMV employee, while I renewed my license.  The DMV office can be relaxing if you go at the right time! 

Later in the day my husband and I attended a free NIC Jazz Ensemble concert that was amazing.  The band gave us over an hour of toe tapping tunes that delighted both young and old in attendance.  The special guests, Al and Gary Gemberling dazzled us with trombone, trumpet and scat performances that were a touch of New Orleans on a summer night.  Dan Bukvich pounded out an amazing percussion performance that included ice scrapers, shovels and chains.  

A standing ovation was immediate after the final number.  There was no other choice.

In fact a standing ovation goes out to Dennys, the DMV and NIC Jazz band for making life better on a cold wintry day in North Idaho’s Best Kept Secret, Coeur d’Alene.

New Middle Name for Smart Cookie

After 30 years of having only one name Tom and I decided to give our oldest daughter another name.  Today we gave Smart Cookie the middle name of Elizabeth which is also my sister's middle name and the name of a beloved neice.  

I don't know why we waited so long to give her this name but it sounds perfect.  

And besides it's fun to give your child a name after 30 years!

Long Distance Grandma and Skype

Casi Jean Miller and Pedro Diaz ,Jr. will be married March 28th in the Newport Beach Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Casi is the daughter of Tom and Shauna Miller of Hayden Lake.  She graduated from CHS in 1998.  She served an LDS mission to Singapore and graduated from BYU in 2004.
She is presently employed by California Weekly Explorer.
Pedro is the son of Griselda Sanchez and Pedro Diaz of Escondido, California.  He has served an LDS mission to Denver, Colorado and will graduate from Azusa Pacific University in May.  He presently works for the Los Angeles County Office of Education.
